Lamont or Lieberman victory doesn't mean anything
There have been a lot of pundits over the last few days ominously intoning what sort of "message" there will be if Lamont of Lieberman wins. They're all idiots.

Lamont and Lieberman are neck and neck. In all likelyhood the final results will be very close. Can you honestly say that Lamont beating Lieberman 51-49 means that the country is willing to move left, while Lieberman beating Lamont 51-49 means that the country absolutely rejects the move left? Neither candidate will have a clear mandate. There is no clear message. There is no clear wisdom and resulting strategy. Here's a more rational reading: the country is heavily divided on the issues at hand. I guess that's not interesting enough to get airtime.

(If one of the men solidly crushes the other, say 60-40 or more, the situation changes. It means the pollsters are doing a terrible job and the situation may be more one sided that it looked before. But I'm not holding my breath. I'm betting on a 10-point spread maximum.)
